UPS preparation & recording guide

Identify the actual topology, rectifier/charger, inverter, battery/DC system and bypass arrangement. Installed-option and OEM scope matter; a generic UPS record is not a switching or bypass procedure.

Maintenance evidence: Reference prior comparable records, events, service changes and unresolved discrepancies. Routine observation and outage work have different access and evidence needs.

Component context & relevant tool types

Power path

Record topology and the documented source/bypass arrangement without inferring permission to operate it. Reference alarm history and timestamps when collecting event evidence.

Battery and DC system

Identify chemistry, strings and cell/block IDs. Voltage, impedance/conductance and capacity evidence are different records; one does not substitute for another.

Inverter, capacitors and cooling

Identify service references for capacitors, fans, filters and connections. Stored-energy work and replacement instructions belong to the applicable OEM procedure and authorized scope.

Functional evidence

Keep original approved reports for controls, protection and loading. Record conditions, load and what was actually checked; do not mark untested functions OK.

Research links for tasks already included in your approved plan; not a required test list or model recommendation. Verify technology, access, interfaces and accessories. OEM/specialist guidance governs unsupported tasks.
